I swear there was NOTHING in this film that would have remotely said, “Hey, I should see this.” I mean it had everything going against. There’s very few rom-coms that I go for in the first place; unless they’re from Woody Allen, it usually won’t interest me.
Plus you have David O. Russell, a filmmaker I’ve barely ever given a second thought about. Bradley Cooper, a guy in movies that I’ve consistently found pretty bad and Jennifer Lawrence whom I only knew from Hunger Games movie posters. And you put ALL that together, all this stuff I would just not be into and what happens? A 22-year old male college-student crying like a bitch by the time it ends. Deal with it. Huge surprise.
